The Methodist Institute Izabela Hendrix has existed since 1904 and was initially a k-12 school for women, the first in Minas Gerais to recognize the rights and understand the importance of women's participation in  the society. In 1972, Izabela Hendrix entered higher education with the creation of a college and, in 2002, received accreditation as a University Center. Since its creation, its history has blended with the trajectory of the city of Belo Horizonte. The capital of Minas Gerais presents the sophistication and boldness of those who are looking for the new, without losing roots. The Institution adopts this style: it values its memory, but it is original and projects the future at every moment.

The University Center believes in the principle of educating citizens and leaders with technical knowledge and social responsibility. To do this, it offers more than a skilled workforce and applies the most up-to-date pedagogical methods to educating active and conscious students, who mark society as competent and ethical professionals. As a member of Methodist Education, linked to the Methodist Church, Izabela Hendrix is an institution of community and denominational character.

Izabela Hendrix´s philosophy is applied in the 17 undergraduate programs pedagogical guidelines that it offers in all areas of knowledge. In partnership with the Methodist University of São Paulo, the institution offers more than twenty postgraduate programs in distance modality (EAD). In order to teach the classes, the University Center has a qualified faculty body constituted in its majority by Master and Doctorate degree holders. The student body is also benefited by services such as the Internship and Career Center.

Izabela Hendrix also serves the community through dozens of outreach projects that it maintains in several fields that make up society: legal, environmental, accessibility, health, among others. The activities on this front are also composed of sectors such as the Research Ethics Committee and events such as the Interdisciplinary Research Conference, Scientific Initiation and University Extension.

Infrastructure

In order for the students to have complete professional training, Izabela Hendrix Methodist University Center has modern and up-to-date spaces that are available to students and teachers, with projects also aimed at the community. The activities are divided into three teaching units strategically located in the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte.

The Praça da Liberdade campus is topped by historical and cultural heritage and retains its charm in structures such as the Izabela Hendrix Theater, the internal gardens and the beautiful modernist features of the Verda Farrar Chapel. It is the largest unit of the Izabela Hendrix, where about 6 thousand people circulate daily. The proximity to the Praça da Liberdade Cultural Circuit further enhances its location.

The Vila da Serra campus is located in a region that it is home to transnational corporations and it has a wide service structure. The unit houses Izabela Hendrix´s Integrated Health Clinics, which offers excellent infrastructure, free private parking and a large area dedicated to its activities. It is convenience and high level education in one of the most promising spaces for housing and business in the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte.

Located in the city of Sabará, the campus Fazendinha is an area with 30 hectares that encompasses an extensive forest reserve and seeks local self-sustainability by developing environmental management in its research projects. Those projects are focused on education and social responsibility. The educational unit maintains and protects the flora and fauna of the region and is made up of classrooms, wi-fi internet, a cafeteria, research rooms for biology and the history of Izabela Hendrix, chapel, lodging facilities, a Swimming pool, sports court, barbecue grillers, parking, ecological trails, a lake for fishing and nurseries.

Another highlight about the institution's infrastructure are its libraries, which have modern spaces, suitable for teaching, research and extension activities. As Izabela Hendrix values the concept of information democratization, everyone has access to the collection, not only the internal community.
